Pastor Adeboye urges Nigerians, leaders to embrace purposeful service The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has urged the nation’s leaders and fellow citizens to live purposeful lives and render selfless service that God and the society will acknowledge.
Pastor Adeboye spoke at the October Thanksgiving Service at the RCCG headquarters, The Throne of Grace, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
The RCCG General Overseer said Nigerians were created to serve, but stressed that the motive and quality of such service remained important. However, the purpose of serving matters.
The service was attended by top government officials, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat other top government officials; and other dignitaries, including Omoyele Sowore. The Special Assistant to the General Overseer (Administration) and Pastor in Charge of Region 1, RCCG, Pastor Dele Balogun, urged fellow Nigerians to change their attitudes, embrace integrity, and reject social vices capable of frustrating the country’s development. He noted that Nigeria, like every individual, was created to fulfil a purpose, adding that the country’s abundant human and material resources had positioned it for greatness
According to him, Nigeria has the capacity to become a leading nation in Africa, but achieving the objective would require a positive change in citizens’ attitudes.
Balogun urged Nigerians to uphold righteousness, integrity, and responsible conduct, and reject corruption and other practices that could undermine national development.
The cleric acknowledged the challenges confronting the country but said other nations had overcome similar difficulties through responsible leadership, positive attitudes and collective determination. There is hope. I said that the people of Nigeria will survive it,” he said, expressing optimism that Nigerians alive today could witness and enjoy the benefits of the country’s transformation.
Sanwo-Olu also expressed optimism that Nigeria would flourish despite its challenges, assuring that Lagos would remain “the centre of excellence, aquatic splendour and a haven for every family
He thanked the residents for supporting his administration and standing behind his family. The governor stated that the progress the state recorded in the last seven years followed the support his administration got from the people.
Sanwo-Olu urge the people of lagos state to consider Obafemi Hamzat as the next governor as he has the capacity, tact, and wisdom to continue the good work of making Lagos a better place. Addressing reporters, Sowore called for peace, progress and unity among Nigerians, irrespective of religious differences.
Also, a former Minister of Police Affairs, Musliu Obanikoro, urged Nigerians, in the spirit of the 66th Independence anniversary of the country, to focus their prayers on national greatness.
The former minister added that a prosperous Nigeria would benefit all citizens. He urged fellow citizens to consider the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
