Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Thursday inaugurated four government bodies, charging their members to discharge their responsibilities with integrity, humility and commitment to public service.

The inaugurated bodies are the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Consumer Protection Committee and Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony at the Government House in Benin City, Okpebholo said the appointments placed a responsibility on the appointees to serve the people of the state diligently.

The governor, in a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, reminded the appointees that their responsibilities extended beyond their obligations to the state and its people.

I wish to remind you that this is not merely a responsibility to the people; it is also a responsibility before God, Okpebholo said.

He urged the appointees to discharge their duties with integrity, dedication and humility, stressing that the interests of Edo residents must take precedence over personal considerations.

I therefore urge you to work together in unity, placing the interests of the people above personal considerations. May your decisions and actions produce meaningful results and create a lasting positive impact, he said.

Okpebholo also urged the members to work together and ensure that their decisions and actions delivered tangible results for the people.

Responding on behalf of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, its chairman, Very Rev. Fr. Alfred Aronegbe Agbonlahor, thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in the members.

Agbonlahor pledged that the board would work diligently to promote the interests and welfare of Christian pilgrims in the state.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and commended his administration’s commitment to the welfare of pilgrims.

Uduimoh said the board would support the government in ensuring efficient, transparent and satisfactory services for intending pilgrims.

The Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee, Iyamu Osaro, also commended the governor for constituting the committee, pledging the members’ commitment to protecting consumers and promoting fairness and accountability in commercial activities across the state.
