The Global Peace Movement International (GPMI) has commended the Federal Government of Nigeria for its swift intervention in the evacuation of Nigerians affected by the recent wave of xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
President of the organization, Dr. Mike Uyi, in a statement made available to journalists, described the evacuation exercise as a demonstration of the Federal Government's commitment to the protection and welfare of Nigerian citizens, irrespective of where they reside across the world.
Dr. Uyi noted that the timely response has once again reassured Nigerians in the diaspora that their government remains attentive to their safety and wellbeing, particularly during periods of crisis and uncertainty.
The GPMI President also acknowledged the strategic and patriotic role played by Air Peace Limited in partnership with the Federal Government in facilitating the evacuation process. According to him, the airline has consistently distinguished itself as a dependable national asset whenever Nigerians face emergencies beyond the country's borders.

He recalled that this is not the first time Air Peace has come to the rescue of stranded Nigerians, citing previous humanitarian interventions by the airline in evacuating citizens from crisis-hit countries and supporting government-led rescue efforts at critical moments.
"Air Peace has repeatedly demonstrated that corporate organizations can complement government efforts in advancing national interests and protecting citizens. The airline's intervention in this latest evacuation exercise is yet another testament to its commitment to humanity, patriotism, and national service," he stated.
Dr. Uyi stressed that the contributions of Air Peace to national development, humanitarian service, and emergency response deserve greater recognition and support from both government and citizens. He urged relevant authorities to consider appropriate national honours and institutional recognition for the airline's management and staff in appreciation of their consistent sacrifices in service to the nation.
