Diaspora Coalition Congratulates Senate President Akpabio on Landslide APC Primary Victory

A coalition of Nigerian diaspora-based groups has congratulated the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on his overwhelming victory in the All Progressives Congress primary election in Akwa Ibom State, describing the outcome as a clear validation of his enduring leadership credentials and political relevance within the party and across the country.

The coalition stated that the resounding victory recorded by the Senate President reflects the confidence reposed in him by party faithful and the people of Akwa Ibom State who, according to the groups, have continued to identify with his inclusive style of leadership, political maturity, and commitment to national development.

In a joint statement issued on Monday, the coalition noted that Senator Akpabio’s performance at the primary election has once again demonstrated that he remains firmly connected to his political base and grassroots supporters despite his current national responsibilities.

According to the coalition, the victory is not only significant for the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State but also reassuring for the stability of the current administration at the federal level, considering the strategic role being played by the National Assembly under Akpabio’s leadership.

The groups further maintained that the Senate President has shown remarkable understanding of the dynamic relationship required between the Executive and Legislature to ensure effective governance, policy stability, and accelerated national development.

They added that under his leadership, the Senate has continued to provide legislative support for key reforms and policies aimed at strengthening democratic institutions, improving economic recovery efforts, and promoting national unity.

The coalition also stated that Senator Akpabio’s one hundred percent loyalty and unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu were crystal clear throughout the primary process, noting that his conduct and public disposition have continued to reinforce confidence in the working relationship between the Presidency and the National Assembly.

According to the groups, Akpabio has consistently demonstrated commitment to the success of the Tinubu administration and has remained one of the strongest pillars of support for the Renewed Hope Agenda within the nation’s democratic framework.

The coalition said the primary election outcome sends a strong signal ahead of future political engagements that the Senate President remains a formidable force within the ruling party and an influential statesman capable of fostering consensus across political divides.

The diaspora organisations therefore called on members of the All Progressives Congress, stakeholders, and Nigerians across party lines to continue supporting Senator Akpabio in his efforts to promote legislative stability, national cohesion, and democratic consolidation.

They stressed that Nigeria requires experienced leaders with institutional knowledge, political reach, and the capacity to build cooperation among arms of government in order to effectively tackle present economic and security challenges.

The coalition also commended APC delegates in Akwa Ibom State for conducting themselves peacefully during the exercise, describing the process as a demonstration of internal party democracy.

The groups that signed the statement include the Global Peace Movement International led by Mike Uyi; The International Watchers chaired by Olusegun Ademola; Nigerian Heritage & Development Agenda with Imatitikwa Igbinoba as Secretary General; Sustained Policy & Reform Coalition headed by Hauwa Ladi Usman; Nigerian Interest Protection Forum chaired by Chidebere Chiamaka Ifesinachi; and Diaspora Accountability Network Nigeria represented by its Secretary General, Beatrice Etim-Onyemachi.
