APC Produces Nine House of Representatives Candidates in Edo Primaries


Nine candidates have emerged as flag bearers of the All Progressives Congress in the House of Representatives primary elections held across Edo State on Saturday.

Speaking while announcing the outcome of the exercise at the party secretariat in Benin City, Chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Honourable Ahmed Kabiru Ajana, described the primaries as peaceful, competitive and devoid of rancour.

Ajana disclosed that an appeal committee had also been constituted to address complaints or grievances from dissatisfied aspirants.

According to the results announced, Billy Osawaru secured the party’s ticket for the Uhunmwode/Orhionmwon Federal Constituency, while Omosede Igbinedion emerged candidate for Ovia North East/Ovia South West Federal Constituency.

Others are Paddy Iyamu for Oredo Federal Constituency; Andrew Ijegbai for Owan East/Owan West Federal Constituency; Anamero Sunday Dekeri for Etsako Central/Etsako East/Etsako West Federal Constituency; Lucky Eseigbe for Esan West/Esan Central/Igueben Federal Constituency; and Felix Osazee Igbinovia, popularly known as "Sazy", for Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency.

Okojie Henry Odianosen emerged as the consensus candidate for Esan North East/Esan South West Federal Constituency, while Oladele Bankole Balogun clinched the ticket for Akoko Edo Federal Constituency.

In his remarks, Edo State Chairman of the APC, Emperor Jarret Tenebe, described the exercise as a reflection of the party’s democratic culture.

Tenebe said party members at the grassroots had spoken clearly through the process, expressing confidence that the APC would present formidable candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Certificates of return were later presented to the successful candidates.
