The Edo State Public Property Protection Committee has said it is set to strengthen collaboration with the Edo State Electrification Agency to curb the rising cases of vandalism and destruction of public installations across the state.
The Director-General of the Edo State Electrification Agency, Saturday Egbadon, stated this during a courtesy visit to the committee’s office in Benin City where he commended their efforts in safeguarding government assets and sought a strategic partnership, particularly in protecting traffic lights allegedly being vandalised by suspected Hausa-Fulani individuals popularly called Aboki.
Egbadun stressed that the agency would not allow government investments in community infrastructure to deteriorate due to cable theft, destruction of traffic signal systems, and other forms of sabotage affecting power-related installations.
Responding, the Chairman of the Public Property Protection Committee, Honourable Eugene Okoloise, appreciated the visit and noted that the committee is ready to intensify sensitisation campaigns against the vandalism of public property, especially in communities and through traditional leadership structures.
Okoloise reiterated that the committee remains committed to ensuring that all public assets are fully protected, warning that anyone caught destroying or tampering with government property will face strict sanctions.
