The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Bello Shehu, has ordered the immediate activation of all school protection mechanisms across the state to enhance the safety of students and staff.
This directive was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu. According to the statement, the order followed a security review meeting held with tactical commanders to assess and strengthen the command’s operational strategies.
Shehu noted that the move aligns with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who has prioritised security around educational institutions nationwide.
The Commissioner urged residents to support the command’s ongoing crime-fighting efforts by remaining vigilant and promptly reporting any suspicious activities.
The heightened focus on schools is as a result of mounting insecurity these past weeks. It has forced several state governments to shut down some schools either temporarily or fully as a precautionary measure.
