Ogun APC Imposes Indefinite Suspension on Senator Gbenga Daniel and Kunle Folarin Over Anti-Party Activities

The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the indefinite suspension of former governor and current Senator Gbenga Daniel, along with party stalwart Kunle Folarin, over alleged anti-party conduct.

In a statement issued Tuesday night in Abeokuta, the party’s Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, confirmed that the suspensions were ratified at a crucial meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) led by Chairman Yemi Sanusi, with 16 members present on August 19.

Olufemi explained that disciplinary panels from Ward 4 and Ward 6 in Sagamu Local Government had found both Daniel and Folarin guilty of misconduct and anti-party activities. Despite being formally summoned to defend themselves, both individuals ignored invitations and failed to attend disciplinary hearings, choosing instead to intimidate party members and pressure others to withdraw petitions against them.

“The disciplinary committees reviewed evidence, heard witnesses, and considered reports before concluding that the members had deliberately refused to cooperate or respond,” the statement read. “Furthermore, they engaged in harassment and intimidation to influence party members and obstruct the disciplinary process. As a result, the committees unanimously resolved to suspend Gbenga Daniel and Kunle Folarin indefinitely, pending further investigation.”

The party emphasized its commitment to discipline and constitutional adherence, noting that the suspensions were officially approved by the SWC. Copies of the suspension letters have been forwarded for final ratification.

This development signals a firm stance by Ogun APC against internal dissent and underscores the party’s resolve to maintain unity and discipline amid ongoing political tensions.
