Meanwhile, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, has assured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the Command’s readiness to provide adequate security during the forthcoming by-elections scheduled for August 16.

This assurance was given when the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Edo State, Professor AnugbumOnuoha, paid a courtesy visit to the Police Headquarters in Benin City.

The visit, according to the Police Command, was part of ongoing inter-agency collaboration to ensure a credible and peaceful electoral process in the Edo Central Senatorial District and Ovia South West/Ovia South East Federal Constituency.

CP Agbonika assured the REC that the Command has put in place robust security strategies, including increased patrols, intelligence gathering, and deployment of personnel to identified flashpoints. He reiterated the police’s commitment to ensuring that voters exercise their rights in a safe and secure environment.
