Data from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has revealed that non-oil taxes accounted for 14.77 trillion naira or 73 percent of the 20.211 trillion naira total taxes collected between January and November 2024.
The amount is a significant increase of 7.57 trillion naira or 105 percent from 7.20 trillion naira collected in 2023.
Oil taxes, on the other hand, were 5.44 trillion naira or 27 percent of the total taxes collected for the period. This represents 1.4 trillion naira increase or 35 percent above the 4.02 trillion naira collected in 2023.
The report said FIRS collected total tax revenue of 20.211 trillion naira in the period, surpassing the 2023 collection by 8.97 trillion naira or 80 percent.
The 20.211 trillion naira collected in 11 months also surpassed the 2024 target of 19.4 trillion naira and 17.8 trillion naira set targets for January to November 2024.
