The Edo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the allegation of the state government as an attempt to turn the truth on its head and safe face.
Recall that the state government in a statement the by Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare blamed the APC for a recent attack and shooting at Idia College in Benin City.
The APC in a statement by its publicity secretary, Barrister Peter Uwadiae Igbinigie however said the allegation by the state commission for communication and orientation was another attempt to deceive Edo people, gather public sympathy and sway opinion in its favour.
Barrister Igbinigie stated that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) thugs and members of the state security network had been deployed to opposition strongholds to cause mayhem and discourage prospective registrants.
He explained that the APC has since called for the cancellation of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having uncovered desperate and sinister plots by the PDP to truncate the electoral process.
The APC spokesman explained further that reports of similar attacks have been recorded in other centres and called on the security agencies to promptly investigate those responsible for such attacks who he noted could easily be identified by registrants and eyewitness.
Igbinigie however assured that the APC will continue to keep the peace before, during and after the governorship election.
