Governorship Election: Group Unveils Digital Training Plan For Edo Voters

As the Edo State governorship election draws near, the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations (CONGOS), Muyicx’s Human Capacity Development Academy Limited, and other stakeholders will on the 11th of April begin Digital Campaign Education for selected party officials and electorate for free.

Chief Executive Officer of MHCD Academy, Ugiagbe Osamuyime, confirmed to Super FM that the training became necessary to address the issue of low voters’ turnout during elections, as well as enlighten political parties about the importance of digital campaign.

The first phase of the project, a one-day awareness seminar, slated for April 11 is also supported by representatives from Independent National Electoral Commission Voter Education Department, Edo State National Orientation Agency and Artisan Development and Networking Organization.

A five-day Train-The-Trainers Certificate Course will commence on the 16th of April while the Canvassers Digital Training Project will commence in the second week of May 2024, with strategies to canvass registered voters digitally to increase voter’s participation during the forthcoming Edo State governorship election in September, 2024.

Osamuyime said the aim is to inform various political parties about the importance of digital campaign and the readiness to help them train a minimum of five and maximum of 10 nominated volunteers from each of the 192 wards of the state on digital facilitating skills free of charge.
