Elders and residents of Iru Egbede Community in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State have raised an alarm following the mysterious disappearance of Faith Omodon, a 200-level undergraduate at Delta State University (Delsu), studying Business Administration.
Faith was reportedly last seen on the 30th of March, when she left her home to tend to the family's farm carrying her breakfast flask.
Her father, Edward Omodon, told journalists that the incident happened during the annual Iru Egbede national conference, when news filtered into the community hall that his daughter had disappeared.
The leader of the village’s vigilance group, Ikpoba Johnbull said upon hearing the distressing news, a search party was immediately mobilized to accompany the girl’s mother to the farm. The search efforts extended to neighboring villages of Izighiri and Uwumuwe, yet no trace of Faith was found, save for the remnants of her lunch flask.
In a desperate bid for help, the community’s National Youth chairman, Donald Egboko, expressed profound despair, urging law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in locating Faith.
When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer, Iyayi Kenneth, confirmed that the incident had been reported at the local station. He however revealed that the case has been transferred to the State police command for further investigation.
Responding to inquiries, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, assured, “I will liaise with the CID department for updates on the investigation.”
