A former National President of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Barrister Olumide Akpata has emerged as the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), for the 21 September governorship election in Edo State.
The Chief Returning Officer for the LP primary election and Deputy Governor, Abia State, Ikechukwu Emeta, returned Barrister Olumide Akpata as the party's candidate for the September 21, 2024, governorship election, haven polled a total of 316 votes.
The result showed that Barrister Kenneth Imasuangbon scored seven votes, Professor Sunday Eromosele seven votes, Sergius Ogun four, Ernest Abebe three. Other participants recorded no votes.
Emeta noted that the party represents truth, hard work and transparency and commended the aspirants for showing the spirit of sportsmanship. He also encouraged party's flagbearer to carry other aspirants along.
In his acceptance speech, Barrister Olumide Akpata paid tribute to the late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu.
