The Defence Headquarters has dismissed a claim of a coup in the country, describing it as a figment of imagination.
There was a report by some platforms claiming the Guards Brigade is on high alert over unusual movements, leading to suspicion of a coup plot in Nigeria and claimed that the development prompted an emergency meeting between President Bola Tinubu and the Commander of the Guards Brigade.
But in a statement, the Acting Director of Defence Information Brigadier General Tukur Gusau said the claims are malicious and unfounded.
In November, the Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa ruled out the possibility of a coup d’état in Nigeria, assuring that the Armed Forces is dedicated to standing by democracy.
