The national leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has issued a notice to members of the union who are offered political appointments of any kind.
A statement signed by the Secretary of the Edo State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Andy Egbon stated that in line with the directive of the National Secretariat of the NUJ, all journalists on political appointments should resign/suspend their membership of the union.
He added that such members may be readmitted to the chapel on the completion of their political assignment, subject to their application for readmittance after due consultation with the leadership of the state Council.
The statement went further to call on all State Executive Council members in the various chapels to treat the directive with utmost importance.
