The Edo State Chapter of the Labour Party has called for the cancellation of the September 2nd local government election in the state and withdrawal of the certificate of returns issued to the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party by the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC).

The party made the call while protesting the outcome of the election which it described as a sham and decried the alleged refusal of the electoral umpire, EDSIEC to avail the party Certified True Copies of the election results to enable them file their complaints in the relevant courts or tribunal.

Speaking on behalf of party members, Edo Labour Party Chairman, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi noted that the local government election was marred with electoral malpractice.

The party took their protest to the Edo State Police Command Headquarters, Department of State Services (DSS), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Oba Palace, amongst others.
