The Edo State Government has charged the Association of Social Media Influencers (ASMI) to join the government’s effort in the fight against the menace of cultism in the state.
The Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare gave the charge while playing host to social media influencers in the Ministry’s premises in Benin City.
He noted that social media influencers have a key role to play in sensitizing Edo residents, especially the youths against the menace of cultism while decrying the spate of cult clashes in the State.
He stated that the State Government has set out Monday 11t of September as a day to draw awareness and sensitize the populace especially the youths on the ills of cultism, calling on social media influencers across the State and those in diaspora to write a short story on the dangers of cultism with the hashtag #StopCultismNow.
