Federation Cup champions Bendel Insurance FC has been drawn against Algerian side  Aso Chief in the first prelimenary round of the CAF Confederations Cup. The Benin Arsenal is expected to host the 1st leg in Nigeria at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium on either 18-20 August while the 2nd led is scheduled for 2weeks later. The Winner will  take on Moroccan power house RS Berkane in the Second round.

Nigeria second flag bearer Rivers United were seeded and therefore drawn bye in the 1st round and will take on the winner of the  match between CS de Ziguinchor of Senegal  and El filante of Burkina Faso in the 2nd round
