The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has declared that the Senate is ready to approve the 23.7 trillion naira debt restructuring request made by President Muhammadu Buhari in December last year.

The senate also blamed the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, for stalling the approval of the request by delaying the provision of the necessary document containing details of the Ways and Means Advances.

At plenary, Lawan specifically ordered Ahmed and Emefiele to supply the required information within three days.
