A former Vice-Chancellor of University of Benin, emeritus Professor Osayuki Oshodin is dead.

A statement announcing the demise of Professor Oshodin, which was signed by his brother on behalf of the family, Christopher Oshodin, said the former UNIBEN VC died in the early hours of Sunday, at the age of 71.

Until his death, Oshodin was a a professor of Health Education.

The statement said the family shall in no distant time release details of his burial arrangement.

Meanwhile, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has condoled with the family of late former Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Osayuki Oshodin. 

Obaseki, who paid a condolence visit to the residence of the late former Vice chancellor, said he was very proud of Professor Oshodin's accomplishments in his lifetime.

According to him, the deceased did his best to contribute to the development of the society, the state and nation at large.

While urging the family to remain strong and united, the governor said the state will give the deceased a befitting burial.
