Governor Hyacinth Alia has officially dissolved the Benue State Executive Council and appointed former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moses Atagher, as the new Chief of Staff, effective immediately.
A seasoned administrator and former acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank, Atagher brings extensive experience to his new role. His appointment was announced in a statement by Chief Press Secretary Tersoo Kula at the conclusion of the 12th 2025 Executive Council meeting.
During the announcement, Governor Alia expressed gratitude to all former Commissioners for their service over the past two years. He urged those not retained to remain active members of the party and continue contributing to the state's development.
The dissolution affects only the Commissioners; other appointees remain in their positions. On behalf of the outgoing Commissioners, Bemsen Mnyim thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve, emphasizing that their time in office was a valuable learning experience.
The former Commissioners have been instructed to hand over their responsibilities to the relevant permanent secretaries promptly.
