The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has said it does not import adulterated fuel and is not responsible for the recent hike in fuel prices.
Responding to demands for Group Chief Executive Officer Mele Kyari’s resignation over rising fuel prices, NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, clarified that protesters were misinformed about the causes of fuel price increases and the quality of fuel distributed by NNPC.
Civil society organizations had stormed NNPC headquarters in Abuja to protest the hike in petrol price.
Soneye assured that NNPC is focused on achieving national energy security and will not be distracted by protests, reaffirming NNPC’s commitment to implementing President Bola Tinubu’s energy roadmap for Nigeria.
