The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, Funsho Adegboye, has urged parents and guardians to warn their children and wards to desist from scooping petroleum products at accident scenes or other places to avoid fire outbreak that may take their lives.
The CP in a statement by the Command's Spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor also called on fire service and the media to sensitize citizens of the danger of scooping petroleum products.
The warning came on the heels of a lone motor accident that occurred on May 1st at about 3:30pm along Benin- Agbor Road by Ukhuaihe Hills around the River involving one Mack Truck conveying 33,000 litters of petrol.
The accident occurred at about 200 meters after Okhuaihe River as the truck driver lost control when he was unable to ascend the hills.
The tanker rolled backwards and fell while the people around turned out in their numbers and started scooping the petroleum products against the warnings of the police for them to guide against fire outbreak.
The CP recall that a lot of persons have died in the past while scooping petroleum products from a fallen tanker.
