Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Officer of Egba Division, Benin City, and his operatives in collaboration with the vigilante group and the hunters have engaged in bush combing operations.

A statement by the police command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor noted that the operation was aimed at flushing out criminal elements in the forest of Eyean through Evboson down to Uteh communities and building confidence in the locals who engage in farming activities.

According to him, during the bush combing operations in one of the camps at Evboson community, some criminal elements on sighting police operatives took to their heels, abandoning one pump-action gun.

On his part, the commissioner of police, Edo State Command,Funsho Adegboye, warned all possessors of illegally acquired firearms to summit such to the police, assuring that they will not be arrested.
