In a related development, eight electoral officers of the Edo State ward delegate election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) slated for February 3rd and 4th have been reportedly abducted.
A statement by the State Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Anthony Anenih, noted that they were kidnapped in Jattu town, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state while heading to Etsako Central Local Government Area for the election.
Anenih, on behalf of the PDP called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to order a swift investigation of the incident and promptly ensure the release of the affected officials, whose families are troubled by the fate of their loved ones.
The ward delegate election was reportedly held and adjudged peaceful by the State Organizing Secretary of the PDP despite petitions of anomalies signed by nine out of the ten governorship aspirants, and the consequent withdrawal Governor Seyi Makinde from the election.
