Some respondents have criticized Governor Godwin Obaseki for his failure to swear in eight Judges-designate of the Edo State High Court.
The respondents also took a swipe at the governor for his delay in the appointment of members of Egor Area Customary Court (1 and 2), Uwelu District in Egor Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking on Super FM Flagship Program, What the Honourable Has To Say, Barrister Uwaifo expressed concern that the governor was frustrating the administration of justice in the state.
In his remarks, Omo Osifo expressed dismay at the reluctance of the governor to swear in the Judges-designate, urging him not to treat judges as politicians. Another caller, Williams observed that the action of the governor was self-serving insisting that something urgent must be done.
Section 271 of the 1999 constitution places the appointment of a person to the office of a Judge of a High Court of a State on the Governor of the State acting on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council.
