The Edo State House of Assembly has resolved that the state government should liaise with the commissioner of police, Edo State command to give approval for the creation of additional divisional police stations in many towns or communities across the state.
Esther Owolabi reports that this followed the motion sponsored by the lawmaker representing Ovia Southwest constituency, Honourable Destiny Enabulele.
The lawmaker who is also the Chairman committee on Arts, Culture and Tourism lamented that the only Divisional Police station located at Iguobazuwa cannot serve the growing population of Ovia Southwest local government area amidst the growing rate of crimes and criminalities.
Other lawmakers who threw their weight behind the motion said it is apt and timely and will help to strengthen the security architecture of the state.
