The hope of Nigeria's Olympic Eagles to play in the upcoming

under 23 African Cup of Nations has ended.

The 1996 gold medalist faced the Junior Syli National in the

second leg of the qualifier and it ended in a 2-0 defeat.

Guinea which had secured a favourable goalless draw in the

first leg dominated the game from the blast of the whistle and

they were able to peg the Nigerian side.

The defeat means Nigeria missed out on the Afcon U23 championship 

and also an opportunity for qualifying for the football event at the

2024 Paris Olympics
