The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government of complicity in land grabbing with its several policies.
This follows last week’s meeting between Obaseki and some church leaders at the Government House, Benin City, where the governor solicited their support to win the war on land grabbing.
The APC in a statement by the state Assistant Publicity Secretary, Victor Osehobo, alleged that the Obaseki led government had on several occasions demolished individuals houses including churches and seized their plots, and in many cases claiming them as government lands.
He noted that this explains the avoidable myriads of litigations against the state government.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Government has faulted the All Progressives Congress for allegedly backing land grabbers in the state.
This was made known in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media to the governor, Crusoe Osagie.
The government criticized the APC for condemning the state’s aggressive effort against land grabbers and other non-state actors responsible for disrupting land administration.
The statement also queried where the APC was regarding the government’s increased minimum wage and paid pensioners, adding that the party did not speak up on those feats.
